Some of the most satisfying jobs we do aren't the flashiest — they're the ones where a homeowner gets their yard back. This Central Minnesota property had a tangled line of scrub trees and brush running along the back of the lot, swallowing usable space and blocking the open, mowable yard the owners wanted. Here's how we cleared it.

The Project at a Glance

  • The problem: an overgrown tree & brush line eating up the backyard
  • The work: full tree & brush removal, cleared to bare ground
  • The cleanup: every bit of debris hauled away — nothing left behind
  • Still to come: stump removal once the ground dries out, then seed to lawn

Before: an overgrown mess

Before: overgrown tree and brush line crowding a Central Minnesota backyard
Before — a dense line of scrub trees and brush crowding the yard.

You can see the problem right away: a thick wall of small trees, saplings, and brush that had been creeping outward for years. It shaded the lawn, dropped constant debris, and made the back of the yard hard to use. The goal was simple — open it all up and get back to clean, mowable grass.

During: clearing and hauling

During: tree line being thinned and understory cleared with a skid loader in Central MN
During — thinning the tree line and clearing the understory.

Working with our own skid loader and equipment, we took the tree line down piece by piece, pulled the brush and undergrowth, and loaded everything into the dump trailer as we went. Doing the removal and the hauling in one organized pass is what keeps a job like this efficient — no giant debris pile left sitting for weeks, and no mess pushed off onto the property line.

After: wide open again

After: tree line cleared to bare ground, brush hauled and stumps cut flush in Central MN
After — cleared to bare ground, brush hauled away, stumps cut flush.

Here's the payoff. The entire tree line is gone, the ground is cleared, and the yard opens right back up. The stumps are cut flush for now — once the ground dries out we'll come back to grind and pull them, then the area is ready to level and seed into fresh lawn.

Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on the length and density of the line and what happens to the debris, but a typical residential tree line is often a day or two. We bring our own skid loader and dump trailer, so removal and hauling happen in one pass.

Yes — everything gets loaded and hauled off with our dump trailer, or piled for burning where your county allows. We don't leave a debris pile sitting on your property.

We cut stumps flush during clearing, then grind or pull them once the ground firms up. Waiting for the ground to dry keeps heavy equipment from tearing up the surrounding lawn.

Absolutely — overgrown tree lines, fence rows, lot edges, and building sites are core work for us. Tell us what you want kept and what you want gone, and we clear to match.
